Lessons

There are many lessons that we can learn not only from the story of Persephone and Hades, but from many other Greek Mythology. They can teach us emotional lessons. We can learn that everyone has weaknesses or weak spots in the tale of achilles. Pandora's box teaches us that curiosity can be a good thing when we want to learn a new thing but being curious for the wrong reasons can be detrimental. But they can also give insight about why the world is the way it is; like why we have seasons in story of Persephone and Hades.

Another thing we can take away from Greek Mythology as a whole, is the lack of respect towards women. The oppression that is seen through many of the stories should not go unnoticed. The Greek women had virtually no rights and were viewed as objects. Even Goddess were viewed differently than the Gods. They had to work harder for their power and authority. In the story of Medusa: she was sexually assaulted by Poseidon, and because she broke her agreement of celibacy (not willingly), she was cursed. This further proves the twisted views during this time. Women are essentially blamed for the 'downfall' of men.

Today, Greek Mythology has become more and more popular as inspiration for books, movies, and much more. There is story retellings, an even new art created. We can learn so much from Greek Mythology, both good and bad lessons.
